PTFE tubing is most widely used as laboratory tubing and for applications where chemical resistance and purity are essential. PTFE has a very low coefficient of friction and is one of the most “slippery” substances known. Processing PTFE can be difficult and expensive, because the high melting temperature, 327 °C (621 °F), is above the initial decomposition temperature, 200 °C (392 °F).
